Plumbers for old houses in Burlington

Sam Whitcomb and a two-van crew. We take out cast iron and galvanised pipe, keep boilers and radiators going, and put warm floors under rooms that were always cold.

  • Cast-iron and galvanised pipe, replaced
  • Boilers, radiators, and the pipes between them
  • Radiant floor heating under old floorboards
  • Frozen pipes, thawed without wrecking the house
  • A written quote before any work starts

What we do

A cast-iron radiator against a plaster wall, with new copper pipe running along the baseboard to a brass valve

Cast iron and galvanised replacement

Old pipe, past its date

Galvanised supply lines in a 1920s house have usually rusted from the inside out. We cut out the runs that are failing and bring new copper to the fixtures, and we leave the radiators alone when they still hold.

Boilers and radiators

Heat that reaches the back bedroom

We service and replace boilers, rebuild radiators that have gone cold along the bottom, and balance a system so the far room is as warm as the kitchen. When a repair is the right answer, we will say so.

Radiant floor heating

Warm underfoot, no ductwork

Under a kitchen floor or a bathroom that was always cold, we lay PEX in loops and set the controls to hold one steady temperature. It suits an old house, which usually has nowhere to put ducts.

Recent work

Three jobs from one winter

One cellar got a new boiler and rerouted copper. Two rooms that had never been warm got loops of PEX under the floorboards. A kitchen sink got a new trap and a straight run to the stack, after thirty years of draining slowly.

Booked by appointment

Plumbing in an old house is rarely one small job, so we look before we quote. Tell us what the house is doing and we will find a time to come out, then put the price in writing before any work starts.
